Kapastela is an offbeat resort wear collection created from scrap fabrics. The textile industry wastes have been converted and woven into a new fabric.
The fabrics have been dyed naturally with emphasis on promoting the handloom industry. The designers Shetty and Chandana Reddy have tried their hand at experimental handloom weaving by utilizing waste fabric strips and bits as weft. Inspired by the exterior of window panes, the silhouette is boxy and structural and ornamented with surface details to enhance the look of the garments. When symmetry forms a part of simplicity, the collection is bound to transform into a phenomenal sight for the people.
The collection shows how we can utilise even the tiniest of scraps to make something beautiful. More innovative, sustainable and ethical collections like this is the answer to a better planet for us.
